The REAL Real Housewives of New Jersey

Last night I attended the lovely Dina Manzo’s fundraising party for her Ladybug Foundation, which benefits terminally ill children (see www.projectladybug.org ). The party also celebrated the premiere episode of Season two of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.  We also watched the first episode of the season on a big screen. While I “Love, Love, Love” the show, the real entertainment was listening to the crowd of mostly Real housewives from New Jersey yell at the screen during the show.  In the scene where Danielle visits a priest to discuss her woes, the crowd jeered so loudly I half expected people to start throwing things at the screen! I said to the people around me, “I’m surprised she didn’t burst into flames” when she entered the church, and they went into fits of screams and laughter that only a crew from New Jersey can pull off.  There was one woman in the crowd that I was certain was a drag queen, but upon closer inspection was simply a real, real housewife from New Jersey. I have to add, they were all the nicest, most fun loving people you could hope to meet, but yes, they really are colorful in the Garden State. I can’t wait for next week’s episode!

See below:  Dina’s Cake for the event. It was the MOST delicious cake I’ve had in a long time! Superb.

[...] Even my mom – who is so d.i.y. she not only colors her own hair but cuts it, too (I love you, Mom!) – thought that a visit to the “brow sculptor” my sister has visited from time to time was in order. So after work on Tuesday I hopped on the subway and trekked downtown for the “procedure.” It wasn’t quite as painful as I’d feared, and I was very interested to learn that the sculptor is also a practicing writer (and sculptor to the Real Housewives of New Jersey!).
